Ohio State University Study Abroad Program students visited Life Museum

オハイオ州立大学(OSU)の海外学習プログラム(Study Abroad Program)の学生18人が、令和元年5月17日に麻布大学いのちの博物館を訪ねました。OSU教授の茨木希先生に引率され日本の公衆衛生を学習するために来日しました。いのちの博物館見学の際、本学獣医学部の黄鴻堅先生が展示物の解説を行いました。
OSU学生達は博物館の展示に感銘を受けました。特にアナコンダ骨格、象とジャンガリアンハムスター骨格の比較及び各臓器血管系のプラスティネーションの展示が印象に残りました。ハンズオンコーナーにおいて、本物の骨標本に触れられたことも貴重な体験になりました。アメリカの学生達は展示物の英語説明標記を増やせば、日本語のできない来館客が本博物館をより楽しく見学できると思うと提案しました。
A total of 18 Ohio State University (OSU) Study Abroad Program students visited Azabu University (AU) Life museum on May 17, 2019. The group, headed by Prof. Motomu Ibaraki, was at AU for 2 days on a learning program in public health. Dr. Ooi of the School of Veterinary Medicine gave a briefing on the museum exhibits.
The students praised the museum for its excellent layout and its bone exhibits. They were also very impressed by the anaconda skeletons, the comparison of the elephant and the Djungarian hamster skeletons and the intricacy of plastination of the vessels of various organs. The interactive corner also drew the enthusiasm of the students where they experienced the touching of real bones. It was also suggested by the students that more explanation of the exhibits in English would convey a bettering understanding of the museum to those visitors who do not understand the Japanese language.
